2013 Ford Escape Reviews and Ratings.Escape was getting old. Still, with such strong sales, Ford didn’t particularly need to completely remake the Escape. But it did just that. The 2013 Escape marks a complete departure from the crossover SUV it replaces. It was spawned from the company’s One Ford initiative that aims to offer the same or similar vehicles globally.
This ’13 Escape, for example, will be sold as the Kuga in Europe. The redesigned 2013 Ford Escape impresses test drivers with its engaging performance, though some say that the Escape’s tech features can be difficult to use.

Purchased my 2013 SEL in August of 2012, sorry to say I didn't do my homework and now regret it. Gas Mileage is not so great- at the most 23.8 combined even lower in the winter months. And yes I often receive the ecoboost award!! so my driving is good!! I have noted several vibrations- we have pinpointed one to the exhaust, sounds like it is loose, and the entire car will shake/vibrate causing cargo in the back to rattle while the car is parked. 95% of the time. The new 2013 model, which goes on sale in the first half of '12, converges like most of the rest of non-F-Series/Mustang North American models with their European counterparts. The new one looks much more like the replacement for the European Ford Kuga than for the U.S. Escape.
At the bottom rung of the powertrain ladder is a revised 2.5-liter four with 168 hp and 170 lb-ft of torque. This base engine is available only with front-wheel drive and is expected to account for 10 percent of sales. An optional 1.6-liter turbocharged EcoBoost four with 178 hp and 184 lb-ft of torque is the next step up. Coupled with self-closing grille shutters (they open for breathing at low speeds and close to reduce drag at higher speeds), the 1.6-liter engine is estimated by Ford to return 23 mpg city and 33 mpg highway on regular fuel. The most powerful choice is a 2.0-liter turbo four with 240 horses and 270 lb-ft of torque, the same power and 37 more lb-ft than offered by last year’s 3.0-liter V-6.Inside, the 2013 Escape has good cargo space, though it doesn’t have as much as family-focused rivals like the Honda CR-V and Toyota RAV4.
Test drivers also say the cabin has a quality look and feel, and report that there’s comfortable seating for all but the tallest passengers.Ford unveiled the Escape Wednesday at the Los Angeles International Auto Show. The new model does share one thing in common with the F-150, and indeed the new Focus and Fiesta: It tries to be the compact crossover for everyone, with a long list of features that allows aspiring and luxury buyers alike to load up the option sheet without paying for a prestige name.On occasion I would smell antifreeze when I parked Now with 13000 miles, as I went to work after only driving 2.5 miles bells began to ring and a screen appeared on the dash that read-* engine temperature has reached unsafe limits* pull over safely. Ford engineers are now helping the dealership figure out the problem because they are stumped!!! Can you say lemon- We want to trade in because we only see more problems in the future and we are afraid it is going to nickel and dime us.
